There are a few issues you will need to consider:
- You must be at least minimally computer literate. If you don't have a computer and/or the skills you should be able to learn then at a local library for free.
- You have to be able to take phone calls. A pre-paid cell phone should do nicely and take few sales to pay for itself.
- You need a place to store your items and show them to customers. Since you have to have a place to live too, that should not be a major problem.
- You will need a way to find and bring home items you plan to resell.
- You have to keep some cash on hand. Once you have sold your own stuff you have to be able to buy from others for resale. The best prices will be from distressed sellers who will want quick cash.
- Buying opportunities are never evenly distributed. You may find several items at one time but then hit a dry spell. You need to have sufficient cash on hand to take advantage of the deals.
- If you are new to the game and coming from a salaried world start slowly. It's terribly easy to overpay and end up with a lot of stuff which can only be sold at a loss.
